From where we are, you can easily visit most of the numerous

                                            Châteaux of the Loire

The largest are open all year round.:

AMBOISE, CHAUMONT du LOIRE, CHEVERNYand CHENONCEAU are all around 20km away.

A little further you’ll find the royal estate of BLOIS (25km)

CHAMBORD, at the heart of Sologne, is not to be missed (35km)

In high-season, don’t forget some of the lesser known châteaux, which can be just as interesting and are not as far away: BEAUREGARD, FOUGERES sur BIEVRE, GUE PEAN, TROUSSAY, VILLESAVIN, LE CHATEAU DU MOULIN close to Romorantin and CHEMERY.

Not forgetting MONTRICHARD and its medieval keep.

Also consider:

The citadel of LOCHES (royal palace, keep).

MONTRESOR, which is one of the prettiest villages in France (castle, collegiate). A visit here will take you into the Indrois Valley.

On the way, stop off at the MONTPOUPON château (hunting museum)

Just a little further on but within easy reach for a day out, are VALENCAY, VILLANDRY and AZAY le RIDEAU. These provide an opportunity to drive along some of the most beautiful roads in the Cher and Indre valleys.
