Courses pottery

Beginners’ and improvement courses shaping by a variety of quick, practical methodsin pottery/ceramics and raku-ware

“take the clay in your hand and wait for a surprise to emerge from the flames”

  • surface finish: texture, print, shades of slipware, oxides
  • decoration with enamels suitable for raku-ware
  • raku-style baking and smoking

                                        

All other requests will be considered

 Dominiquewill lead the courses, which last 15 hours spread over five days

Place: on site, in the barn set aside for this purpose (see Tour of the Property)

Dates:  for now, you may indicate your preferences.Not during holidays .

Timetable

 

Morning sessions from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm

  • Monday and Tuesday: shaping and preparation work
  • Wednesday: finishing and raku-baking pieces supplied by the course leader (you may also bring pre-baked items)
  • Thursday and Friday: finishing, double-baking and cooking the pieces prepared at the beginning of the week.

Afternoon free:

Continue working (without the course leader)

  • Visit local ceramists and potters; Dominique’s workshop
  • Visit châteaux or other tourist sites (see Discover the Region)
  • Go for a walk or bike ride (loan available)
  • Rest, relax

Five nights’ accommodation and full board

You will stay in one of the “Saisons de Traînefeuilles” rooms, alone or sharing.

Arrive on the Sunday after 4pm, the day before the course starts

Leave on the Friday after lunch       

Full board includes:

  • a filling breakfast
  • lunch (starter, meat or fish dish, seasonal fruits)
  • dinner (starter or soup, main course e.g. quiche, salad, cheese and home-made dessert)
  • drinks (aperitifs and local wines) and snacks

Meals are eaten together at the host’s table.

 

Course numbers: three to six, maximum of seven

 Prices: 

Sessions: €190 all inclusive (clay, enamel, baking)

 Accommodation: €290 per person full board sharing (family rooms are actually two separate bedrooms).

 Supplement of €140 for an individual room.

 

Of course, you can bring a partner even if you’re not both taking the course. The “non-attendee” can choose something else to do in the morning (see Different Activities or Nature)
